Young People’s Wellness Center Campaign

An Urgent Need

Roots Community Health seeks to raise $5.5 million to establish the Young People’s Wellness Center (YPWC) in East Oakland, providing a home for young people that offers programs and services that honor culture and ensure their ability to thrive and advocate for themselves and their community.

East Oakland’s youth face numerous challenges, including limited access to healthcare, educational opportunities, and economic stability. Statistics show alarming rates of mental health issues, substance use, and school dropout.

The glaring absence of a dedicated health center for youth aged 13-26 exacerbates these problems, leaving many without the support they need to thrive. The YPWC aims to fill this critical gap, providing essential services and fostering a supportive environment for stability, growth, and development.

Your generous support will help turn this vision into reality! Every dollar raised will directly impact the lives of our youth in the 40x40 block of East Oakland.

Our Vision

Unique Community Space: Capital & Facilities

The YPWC will be the only physical space in the 40×40 area of East Oakland dedicated to young people aged 13-26. Here, every individual is met with the comprehensive behavioral health and wellness support they deserve.

Youth entering the YPWC receive confidential and supportive clinical and behavioral care, counseling for sexual diseases and teenage pregnancy, and substance use treatment. The center also offers navigation assistance, workforce options, leadership development, and opportunities for civic engagement and policy advocacy.

Transformative Impact: Programs & Core Services

The YPWC is a cornerstone of Roots’ mission to transform East Oakland and uplift those impacted by systemic inequities and poverty.

By addressing the unmet health and personal development needs of our youth with a variety of programs and services, we are building a stronger, healthier, and more vibrant community.
