Workforce

Employment is a key social determinant of health, whether it provides income, insurance coverage. Economic policies that limit the economic opportunities for disadvantaged individuals and communities further cement generational poverty and poor health outcomes. Roots believes that governmental entities should use their public funds to procure goods and services from organizations and businesses that provide workforce opportunities for disadvantaged individuals, including the formerly incarcerated individuals goods and otherwise spent on good services, should be directed to support greater employment.
