Day 10: Pathways to Change
In 2016, Roots Community Health expanded our Whole Health Model by acquiring Timelist Group and their curricula, developed by and for incarcerated individuals. The curricula, which emphasizes individual’s mindset and behavior, aims to end the cycle of violence, crime, poverty, unemployment and recidivism of those who have been incarcerated, complementing Roots’ comprehensive wraparound services. Our life-changing educational platform empowers participants through a series of workshops that focus on rehabilitation, education and social development.
“We are committed and connected to the charge of saving lives,” said Yusef Andre Wiley, Roots’ Regional Director and author of Timelist curricula. Our curricula is currently utilized in six California State Prisons and is widely respected among the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Our goal in 2017 is to expand the curricula within penal institutions and offer workshops to our local community, as an added component of healing our community from within.
